Crave and the City Lights
Ever been in a situation where you needed to stay awake and alert for over 24 hours? I am a Flight Attendant and was on call this weekend (Fri. Sat. Sun). My "on call" duty time starts at midnight Friday morning. I live in Kentucky and work in New York City. So, I have to commute to work. I had just arrived at my apartment in New York on Thursday night around 10:30 PM. I was just getting settled to sleep the night and the phone rang. It was Scheduling calling me to tell me that I had a trip. I had to be at Kennedy airport by 2:00 AM to work a flight to Paris, France. At that moment in time I was looking at this as a misfortune. I had not had any sleep, I had just gotten there, taken off all my make-up, and was ready for bed and I was not on duty yet.
My New Outlook:
What if you had received a call in the middle of the night, been told you had won a trip to Paris, France. Your hotel was paid for, you were going to get fed all the way over and all the way back. You had 2 hours to be at the airport and you would be in Paris for 15 - 17 hours. Your hotel was walking distance to the Eiffel Tower and you had enough time to go there, eat a meal in France, and have a night out in Paris. How would you be feeling then? Happy, thrilled beyond belief. You could not get to the airport fast enough.
Thanks to Crave all 6 of the flight attendants called out in the middle of the night along with me, had a wonderful 15 hours in Paris. Those of us working in the back even had a Crave dance going!
